Steamboat Sotheby’s International Realty recently completed the first grant cycle for the Steamboat Sotheby’s International Realty Community Fund, established through the Yampa Valley Community Foundation, and is excited to announce that $9,000 in funding was awarded to five non-profit organizations in Steamboat and Routt County.

The fund was established in 2017 with a goal of making a meaningful impact in organizations within the Steamboat and Routt County communities.

“We saw this as an opportunity for everyone within our firm to work together toward a common goal,” says Traci Smith, Director of Marketing and SSIR Community Fund Coordinator. “The beauty of collective giving is that you don’t have to give a lot individually to create a situation where the group, collectively, can contribute significantly. It’s a perfect example of the old adage: ‘the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.'”

The organizations and programs awarded funding were: Lift-Up of Routt County’s Emergency Assistance Housing Program, Northwest Colorado Health’s Home Health Program, Routt County Council on Aging’s frozen food service and rural transportation programs, Sk8 Church’s After School Programs, and Totally Kids’ Before and After School Programs in Hayden.

The SSIR Community Fund will have two grant cycles each year, awarding grant funding to non-profit organizations in Routt County each fall and spring. For the fall 2017 grant period, Steamboat Sotheby’s International Realty received 24 grant applications.

“We are so proud to be able to give back to our community in this way,” Smith continues. “Honestly, we were a bit surprised by the number of applications that we received for funding for this first grant cycle. It is clear that there is a tremendous need for funding for educational, human services, environmental, and arts programs in Steamboat and Routt County, and we are proud to be contributing. We look forward to continuing to grow our fund, through the generous contributions of our brokers, owners and staff, which will provide more funding for organizations in our community that are doing such meaningful and important work.”

According to Mark Andersen, Executive Director, Yampa Valley Community Foundation, “We are delighted and honored to partner with Steamboat Sotheby’s International Realty to create a Community Fund that supports the Yampa Valley. By working together, we create a culture of giving that extends well beyond these generous grants to local nonprofit organizations.  Together, we are seeing the power of philanthropy and encouraging our community give back.”
