That winter ski and snowboard trip just got a lot easier for travelers from the Boston, Fort Lauderdale and Long Beach areas. Steamboat Ski Area recently announced the addition of three new weekly direct flights for the 2018/2019 Steamboat Winter Flight Schedule, operated by JetBlue.

Never-before-offered direct flights into Steamboat from Boston Logan International will be offered twice per week, as will the flights from Long Beach Airport, operating on Saturdays and Wednesdays. The direct flight from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport will operate weekly on Saturdays.

Direct travel into Steamboat from these three new destinations will be available from December 15, 2018 through March 30, 2019, and are currently available for booking.

With the addition of JetBlue, skiers and riders from Southern California now have three options, on three different airlines, for direct flights into Steamboat-Hayden Regional Airport: United Airlines flies out of LAX, Alaska Airlines out of San Diego, and now JetBlue out of Long Beach. The addition of the Long Beach location makes travel to Steamboat easier and more convenient than ever, especially for travelers from the Orange County, California area.

An added bonus to three different airlines from three different locations in close proximity in Southern California will likely be more competitive fares. As Rob Perlman, Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp. President and COO, puts it, “(Travelers) are going to have options, and with options come competitive pressure. Hopefully we see attractive and affordable fares.”

John Checketts, JetBlue Vice President of Network Planning, says that this relationship has been quite a long time in the making, and that it was just a matter of when they could work out the details. That time proved to be now. “I think it’s been a bit of a timing issue,” Checketts said. “We’ve been talking for several years now.”

No matter where you arrive from, flying into Steamboat-Hayden Regional Airport makes the travel experience easy and convenient. Located just 20 minutes from the Steamboat Ski Area and almost every resort property in Steamboat Springs, it is a regional airport with a community feel, and the perfect way to start your ski or snowboard vacation.
