At Steamboat Sotheby’s International Realty, our brokers make us who we are. Get to know a little bit more about Barkley Robinson, Broker Associate.

How long have you been in the real estate industry, and why did you get into this business?
12 years in the industry.  I got into this business because my engineering job was great from a technical aspect, but it was too isolating. I wanted more interaction with people and real estate seemed like the ideal segway from my engineering profession.

What is your favorite thing about being a real estate broker?
It is really powerful being able to help people in a positive manner to assist with some of their biggest life decisions.

What is something you have learned from being a real estate broker?
I have learned that real estate transactions involve highly complicated processes so it is vitally important to listen and deeply understand the individual client’s needs.

How long have you been in Steamboat and what brought you here?
I have been here 21 years. I would come out here for ski racing in high school and instantly recognized that it was a unique community and an awesome place to live. Coming out of engineering school, I was able to land a really good job out here and be able to make the move right out of school.

Currently, what is your 2-3 sentence answer to the question: How’s the market?
There are a lot of different segments within the market and it really depends on what segment of the market you are looking at, but in general, our market has seen steady healthy growth over the past number of years.

What do you like to do outside of work?
Spend time with the family and spend time outside on my bike and on skis.

What makes Steamboat Sotheby’s International Realty unique?
The support and high level of service that our company provides.

Tell us about something in your personal life that makes you very proud.
Having and raising 3 kids in Steamboat!

What is your favorite thing about living in the Yampa Valley?
Really it’s the people that make it special! It is also a safe and friendly community with great outdoor recreation.

What’s the most ridiculous thing that has happened to you as a Realtor?
I once showed a Storm Meadows townhome right after a HUGE party. The place was completely trashed and there was alcohol stashed in every crevice of the property. The furnishings were even destroyed. Needless to say, they did NOT buy it!
