Pull on your boots and cowboy up! Monday, January 20th, marks the 46th annual Cowboy Downhill at Steamboat Resort. True to our old Western roots, this event is about as “Steamboat” as it gets. Over 40 years ago, Billy Kidd and the Steamboat Director of Skiing decided to invite several ProRodeo cowboys up to the resort for a day of fun on the hill, and today it still is a signature event each year.

The event begins at 1pm on Monday the 20th, so head up to the Steamboat base area for an afternoon of fun and laughter while over 100 rodeo cowboys race down Stampede. At the bottom of the course, they have to rope one of the cowgirls and throw a saddle onto the back of a horse. After the race at approximately 2:30pm, stick around for a Bud Light Rocks the Boat Free Concert featuring Fruition.

If you’re unable to attend the Monday afternoon festivities, Sunday night, January 19th, will feature the kickoff of the event with an evening Balloon Glow. Hot air balloons light up the night from 5-6pm, so bring the family and stroll among the balloons, take photos, or cozy up at Timber and Torch to take in the beauty of the glowing sky with a cup of hot cocoa.
