The Steamboat Springs Free Summer Concert Series will be returning later this summer after a year off due to covid. In August and September, the SFSC (Steamboat Free Summer Concerts) will host two safe and family-friendly concerts at the base of Howelsen Hill.
There will be two performances as summer winds down, kicked off by The Lil Smokies with special guest Jon Stickley Trio on Friday, August 27th, and the End of Summer Jam will feature Samantha Fish, Eddie 9v, and other acts TBD over Labor Day Weekend on Sunday, September 5th.
“After a long, strange year filled with isolation and countless disruptions to our daily lives, Steamboat Free Summer Concerts is proud to announce the return of free live music to the Yampa Valley during the summer of 2021,” SFSC organizers said in the announcement. “With increased safety measures in place and a pent-up demand for live music, the free shows will be more difficult than ever to pull off,” the announcement said. Many attendees of the annual event are unaware of the fact that the concert series is supported by generous donations and sponsorships from local community members and businesses, as well as alcohol sales at the events. The gates to the concerts will open at 5:30pm. Concerts begin with an opening band, followed by the main act, and typically end around 9pm. Guests are welcome to bring chairs or a blanket to sit on, and all ages are welcome. Outside food and beverages are not allowed, but with multiple food tents to choose from and beer and bottled alcoholic drinks available, no one will go hungry! No pets, no smoking.
