Steamboat Sotheby’s International Realty is proud to announce that the SSIR Community Fund awarded $8700 in its Spring 2018 grant cycle to ten local non-profit organizations through its collective giving program. Formed in 2017, the Community Fund contributed almost $18,000 to fourteen non-profits in Routt County in just its first year.

The Steamboat Sotheby’s Community Fund was established through the Yampa Valley Community Foundation as a way for SSIR brokers and staff to collectively contribute and make a meaningful impact in organizations within the Steamboat and Routt County communities. The SSIR Community Fund has awarded grant funds to support the important work being done by non-profits in many different sectors of the community. These include health & human services, senior services, youth programs, arts and the environment. The concept of collective giving is simple – pooling individual contribution dollars and combining giving efforts results in a significantly larger impact than if donations were made individually.

Grant funding for the Spring 2018 period was awarded to:

  • Steamboat Springs Arts Council – Young at Art Creativity Camps Scholarship Program
  • Friends of Wilderness – Continental Divide Trail Repair Project with RMYC
  • Girls on the Run of NW Colorado – 2018 GOTR Scholarship Program
  • Historic Routt County – Crossan’s Market in Yampa Rehabilitation Project
  • Integrated Community – Summer ACE Club Program
  • Reaching Everyone Preventing Suicide – ASIST Training, QPR Training, It Takes Courage Campaign and Free Counseling Program
  • Rocky Mountain Youth Corps – Yampa Valley Science School Scholarship Program
  • Routt County Council on Aging – 2018 Summer Activities Program
  • Yampa Valley Sustainability Council – ReTree Steamboat Youth Education and Stewardship Program
  • Yampatika – 2018 Summer Day Camp Scholarship Program

“Steamboat Sotheby’s International Realty’s most recent grant cycle is a reflection of the diverse needs we have in the Yampa Valley. This fund is not only creating a culture of giving, but it is bringing positive results to local nonprofit organizations,” says Mark Andersen, Yampa Valley Community Foundation Executive Director. “We are excited to continue to partner with Steamboat Sotheby’s International Realty, and to expand our spheres of influence.”

Traci Smith, SSIR Community Fund Coordinator, adds, “We are so proud of the success of our Community Fund’s first year, and of the impact that we have been able to make in our local community. In each of our first two grant cycles, we received over 20 applications, highlighting the need for funding of these essential programs that are at the heart of who we are as a community. We want to make a difference in the lives of those in our community who may not have the resources that we are fortunate to have. And the beauty of collective giving is that you don’t have to give a lot individually to create a situation where the group, collectively, can contribute significantly.”
